I'm setting up a DNN site with a custom skin, which I have installed. I want to modify the skin's style sheet, but I can't find it in my DNN site.

I know the skin's style sheet is installed, becuase it provides formatting to the modules on my site. But when I go to the style sheet editor in Site Settings, I don't get the skin's style sheet--I get what looks like the default DNN style sheet. I'm assuming the skin's style sheet doesn't replace the DNN default, but simply overrides some of its settings.

How do I find the skin's style sheet? I checked the portal file manager, and the only style sheet shown in the root is the DNN default. Thanks for your help.

 

Okay--I found the skins style sheet in my DNN file structure(Portals/_default/Skins directory). So, I can get to the skin from my web host's control panel and modify it as needed. But is there a way to get to the skin's style sheet from within DNN? Thanks.

I would suggest you edit the skin.css file before uploading it to your live DNN installation. If you have a localhost installation, it's a much easier method to create the skin at localhost level and then upload the skin when it is complete.

If you need to make CSS changes from your DNN portal, the only option you have is to go to admin / site settings and in there you will find the style sheet that you can edit.

This will edit the portal.css file

The portal.css file overrides any settings in the default.css and skin.css file.

If you are creating skins, I would recommend you keep all of your CSS within the skin.css file for simplicity and ease of use when you come to make any changes in the future. - Sometimes mistakes can also be made and you could lose the data in your portal.css file.
