Hi All,
In case your having the same problem, here is a quick fix, (if like me you don't have time to drop everything and upgrade) -
Here's what i did:
Step 1:
Download User Agent Switch for Fire Fox - it allows you to view your site as Googlebot does - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59 - then go through the site page by page to determine which ones are causing a problem.
NB> I checked google cache against User Agent Switch for about 10 pages - it was accurate in every case, so IMHO its an awesome tool!
Step 2:
For each module in the page (eg. Text/Html etc) go through and set the cache time to 0 (default is 1200). In theory you will suffer a performance hit, but for us it was not noticable... and it is a quick/temporary fix.
Step 3:
Re check with USer Agent Switch - I had to wait a little while before "cache time = 0" took effect and showed the right results in UserAgent Switch. Probably restarting DNN would have seen it take effect straight away?!
Step 4:
As a stroke of luck, Google actually re-indexed my homepage a couple of hours later - problem sorted!
Now I just have to decide whether to upgrade to 4.9.5 or go straight to 5.x ...and find some time to do it!
***Note: from the DNN forum / bug notes, this may work with other cache times less than 1200 but more than 0. One example was using 350 -
