Hi, I have a bi-lingual site almost ready to launch using DNN 04.09.02. The main portal is in English http://importfab.com.previewyoursites.com/ and I created a child portal for the French version http://importfab.com.previewyoursites.com/fr/ . I have placed the standard DNN Announcements module on the home page for the News (Nouvelles) section. In the child portal, I set the site default language to French (Canadian) under Admin >Site Settings. I also disabled the “Enable Browser Language Detection…” and “Enable language parameter in URLs…” options under Admin>Languages. This should “force” the language to the default, right? However, I still see the dates in the Announcements module displayed in English. Also, it says “Login” at the bottom of the page and should say “Connexion” in French. I see the same problem in both IE8 and Firefox. I have used this method to force the language to French on previous sites with no problems e.g. www.corporailes.com . How do I make the dates in the Announcements module display in French?

I have just tested this is in DotNetNuke version 4.9.4 and I get the text in French for the dates in the announcements module and for the login links.

I noticed when installing the language pack that it stated 'x x x module language not installed as the module is not installed' for any core modules that were not installed, however at the time I had not installed the announcements module, and once I installed it and added it to the page the announcements module still displayed the date text in Canadian French.

I would suggest you make sure you have downloaded the correct language pack, make sure you are downloading French (Canada) full language pack [4.9.0] as some of the language packs only cover the core and then reinstall the language pack.

Hi Lee, I discovered the solution yesterday. It should be enough to set the default language in each portal to the desired language. Unfortunately, if you enter the site in the English portal, then switch to the French portal, the DNN generated text (such as the dates in the announcements module) remain displayed in English. Similarly, you are stuck with French generated text if you enter the site in the French portal, then switch to English. The solution is to disable the language that is not being used in each portal. This is done in the Admin>languages menu. This ensures that only the desired language for that portal will be displayed and you can switch between portals with no problem.
