I purchased a skin package (P004) from Snowcovered and installed to a DNN site with version 4.9.4. When I appy the skin with dual menu (horizontal and vertical) where the admin and host menu are shown on the vertical pane on the left, I cannot access the admin or the host menu once I navigate away from the page. The only way I can gain access to the admin or host menu again is to change the page setting (for the active page) to use the default DNN skin. Also, anyone know of skin package that is sold with a reasonable useful documentation? Any help is much appreciated!!! Sam

You can add a menu to display only when the admin logs in, I have used this technique in the free Zenlike skin.

You can add this code to the bottom of your skin files code:

NOTE: I have added spaces in the code above so that it displays correctly in the forum, however if you want to check this download the Zenlike skin.

You can replace the skin name [SOLPARTMENU] with whatever menu you wish.

Ok, I tried this method, but still not luck. Basically I have a horizontal solpartmenu with a start tabID and a vertical menu with a start tab id. Because they both have start tabIDs the Admin and Host options do not appear. I first tried to add a 3rd solpartmenu and just leave it so that the admin and host would appear, but no luck. I then tried your above method and still nothing displays. I'm stumped. In my skin I have solpartmenu (which has a starttabid), solpartmenu:1(which has a starttabid), solpartmenu:2 (not displaying at all).

Also, what's the difference between solpartmenu & housemenu, is one better than the other?

If you are using a recent version of DotNetNuke (4.9 or higher) then you can use the DNN NAV Menu which has replaced SolPart as the default menu.

I want to thank Lee and Joe for your prompt repond to my question. I don't have much experience with DNN skining. I have been using DNN with the default skin and components, and started to look into changing the look and feel recently. I found the problem/solution (from documentation provided by the sking developer, Dotnetnukeskin.com) and got the Admin and Host submenu to display in a dual menu mode. By default, DotNetNuke disables the submenu for the Admin and Host tabs when the "rootonly" menu parameters is set to "true". To fix the problem, I set the "DisableLink" field in the Tabs table for the Host and Admin Tabs, by executing the following SQL statement: - UPDATE Tabs SET DisableLink = 0 WHERE TabID = 38 - UPDATE Tabs SET DisableLink = 0 WHERE TabID = 7 Sam

The difference between those two menus is that the house menu is a pure CSS menu which makes the menu more search engine friendly and also helps to increase the performance of your DotNetNuke site as it does not require JavaScript code to work.

Regarding your three menu problem, this should work ok - so could you attach your full skin files in a zip file to this forum post and I will have a look to see if I can find a problem.
