How does one change the public statement on the registration page? First, in 4.3 there are no * but red circle arrows for required fields and I would like to add an explanation of what the genenral registration page is used for and explan authorization. |

Hi. I did that and I am not seeing the changes. I am using DNN 3.3xxx and ASPNet 1.1. Also, the file it tells me I am changing is:
\admin\Security\App_LocalResources\Register.ascx.resx
Is that correct? Help! Thanks Lisa |

On my registration page the note below displays. I would like to edit this note, but I can't find the file that contains it. I have looked in the files shown above, but nothing pertaining to registrations is there. Can you direct me to the file that contains the note below? Preferred User Information *Note: Membership to this portal is Private. Refer to the answer earlier in the thread. Go to Admin, Languages and open the language editor. The string you are looking for is named PrivateMembership.Text and is in the SharedResources.resx file. |

Thank you. That was the correct location. The Register.ascx part of the above answer threw me. I can't find that in my files. |

Joseph,
With your help I've managed to change the text on top of the required fields.
Thanks!
But above the password fields (further down)there is a text "Enter a password". I cannot find this string in the SharedResources file. Do you know where I can edit it?
Cheers, John

There is such a field in: \admin\Users\App_LocalResources\User.ascx.resx
Using the Language Editor ... Local Resources ... Admin ... Users ... App_LocalResources

Thanks once again.
We're using the "verified" mode for registering.
Once I click the verification link I get to a new page were the words user name, password, verification code appears, I need to translate these as well, ( i did in the file you indicated, but thse seems to be new versions of the same strings?!)
Finally, is there any system or behind where these strings are located, or can you suggest a convenient way of locating them (other than bothering you all the time)?
Cheers, John |

Hi John,
There is no easy way to locate them, it's a matter of going through each file in the areas you think they may be in within the language editor.
If you use Firefox, press CTRL and F and you can quickly search for keywords on the page, for example, enter Password and look in all the admin folder files - that's basically what i have been doing each time one of these queries comes up.
Which version of DNN are you using? as some of the locations have also moved in DNN5

Once again thanks.
I'm using 4.9.
I'll use yout tip to scan the files to see what I can find.
One more thing:
In the video tutorial "How to Manage Profile Properties in User accounts" You show how you can "remove" the display name by using tokens so that it becomes "firstname lastname" by default.
Is it possible to do the same thing with the username: "removing" it from the registration form and setting it to "email address" by default?
Cheers, John |

No, but Data Springs' Dynamic Login module provides this functionality, I believe.
