hi,

i have seen all seven videos in dnncreative for parent/child portals. I am very clear with creating child portal, and how it is working.

But still i am in confusion, how to create parent portal? I tried in my system, but i failed it.

Steps i did for creating parent portal


1. I installed DNN in my local system
2. Logged in as a Host, and open the page for adding new portal.
3. My existing localhost setup url is like this : http://localhost/DnnDemo/Default.aspx
4. I selected the parent portal and entered the Portal alias as localhost/DNNDevelopment
5. I dont have any web directory as DNNDevelopment in my IIS
6. Portal is created successful, but when i click on the protal url it is showing file not found.


can any one help me on this? What should I do to create parent portals?

what is the difference between creating parent and child portals.

My guess is that the portal is fine. You need to configure IIS so that a specific URL will point to it.
