This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any answers via searches online, so I will ask. I have a parent portal for main site, and a child portal for blog. Reason being is so users can go to the blog via site.com/blog or blog.site.com (as a alias). Can I search from Parent portal and come up with blog entries that match my search? I have tried and it doesn't seem to work. I know for all intensive purposes child and parent portals are about the same, but I was hoping that in making the blog a child portal, it might get some different options in reference to it's parent. Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to do this with the standard DotNetNuke search. Look for third-party modules that do what you want. I believe that I've seen at least one, but don't recall the name.

This will index any URL that you provide to it, much like Google, this is what we use on DNNC and I think it should be able to index multiple portals - you could double check with the module developer.

Thanks a bunch Lee! That is exactly what I am looking for. I looked it up and it sounds like it works well. I have also been impressed with the search functionality here at DNNCreative. I emailed the guys at Xepient to make sure the OpenSearch Engine works with DNN 5. I also emailed them to find out how well it searches through blogs.
