Hi
I recently upgraded to DNN 5.1 and to my shock and horror, all the images for the host and admin menu items no longer function. If I check the propertias of the images I get the following URL http://sequoia.dobs.biz/Portals/4//icon_tabs_16px.gif. Note the // in-between 4 and icon.
1. Any ideas on how I can rectify this problem
2. How can I dump the icons from SOLPARTMENU totally
Thanx Richard |

Hi Got the same problem. If I set the skin on the portal to MinimalExtropy the icons are ok, but if I set the skin to my skin they are missing. The property on the icons shows: when using my skin: Portals/2//icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif when using Extropy: /images//icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif This is probably related to som css/menu stuff somewhere ;=) But where! ;=) //A |

This is probably a NAV vs SOLPART problem ..... There are a few other differences as well. Probably time to upgrade the skin to be DNN5 compatible .... |

Thanks for the response Lee. Do you have any info on how to upgrade a skin to DNN 5. I am digging through the site but can’t seem to find anything on this topic. |

While I am on the topic. We are developing a module. The module has one set of DLLs but multiple screens. The DNN4 documentation states that you need to create a full installation for each screen but I read on some or other site that DNN was addressing this issue in version 5. Is it possible to install multiple modules with one manifest install file and do you have an example of how we would do this. Regards Richard |

regarding DNN5 - I will be recording DNN5 tutorials when they release a stable version that can be used in a production environment, at these early stages things change a lot so it wastes time recording vids on early buggy releases.
For DNN5 skins, all previous skins work in DNN5 - just upload them. DNN5 just adds some new ways to skin and the manifest file, so there is actually no difference for skinning the method that you already use.
DNN5 module development, I'm not sure I would check the dotnetnuke.com forum for precise info, from what I recall of the presentation at openforce europe this may well be possible.

Yes, it is possible to install multiple modules from within a single zip file. Check Charles Nurse's blog at DotNetNuke.com for a series of posts on the news extensions format for DotNetNuke 5.

Hi I have then same problem as RichardSletcher (above). When upgrading to DNN 5.1, all the images for the host and admin menu items no longer functions. The different problem in my case is that i am using HouseMenu (1.4.1) instead of solpart.
The problem, as i see it, is that dnn are adding "Portals/0/~/" in to the imagessrc, so when i look at imgsource in the browser it looks like this: www.mydomain.se/Portals/0/~/images/icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif
it should look like this: www.mydomain.se/images/icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif
All iconimages is located in the "images" dir in root of dnninstallation. (so they are there)
Any one know how to deal with this? (as change the rootsrc for this files or something?)

I've not seen this happen. Do you specify the ~ somewhere? How do you specify the URLs to the images in your modules?
Normally, images should be placed in Portals/N where N is the PortalID. This is the "portal root."

Hi thanks for response Joe
i really don´t know where this ~ comes from... when i upgrade an other dnninstallation (just for test, before installing on the productionsite) from version 4.9 to same 5.1, i used this same skin but in that case there was no problem..
i don´t know where to look. I have looked in the default "minimalExtropy" skins and the imgsrc for same file looks like this http://www.barnensbibliotek.se/images//icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif and shows normaly. No "/Portals/0/~" but her is double "//" and it works... so i dont know where it routes the imgsrc i tested typing my url i browser manualy like this www.barnensbibliotek.se/Portals/0//images/icon_moduledefinitions_16px.gif then the img shows in browser.. so i don´t know where this extra ~ comes from
i can send some code or links if it can give some idee to solve this problem im greatful for all help i can get.

Does everything work as expected if you apply the Minimal Extropy skin?

Yes. it works fine. so the problems must be in the other skin i soppose.. the only changes i have done from version 4.9 to 5.1 is change "DotNetNuke.Skin" to "DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin" /andreas |

If you would zip up your skin and attach it to a post, I'll try to take a look at it.

Hello again im still trying to understand what causes this problem and i cant find out where dnn sets the imgurl for the host and admin menu. i found out that i get different "addon" so to speak im my imgurl. When looking in adminmenu for imgurl i get this url (in every imgur in adminmenuitem): http://www.barnensbibliotek.se/Portals/0/~/images/icon_sitesettings_16px.gif (the onlything changing is the gif images) but when looking in hostmenu i get this imgurl: (in every imgur in hostmenuitem): http://barnensbibliotek.se/images/~/images/icon_hostsettings_16px.gif i don´t get it. /Andreas |
