Is it possible to stop the registration process from emailing the user's password? I find it very annoying when websites do that - many people use the same password on many sites (which is bad practice but common) and they register on your site and suddenly their personal email is blown by sending over unsecure email! Some suggestions:

1. Turn off SMPT for the site by removing the SMTP settings. The downside is that NO email will be sent from the site.

2. Use Dynamic Registration from Datasprings. You can turn off the email there.

3. Modify the source code ... not recommended.

I think it is important to send the user an email (not least because the page after registration says it will).

Sure. If you modify the framework, you take yourself out of the easy upgrade path. You will need to keep track of what you did, and be prepared to do it on any upgraded version of DotNetNuke.

If you modify modules, you at least can use the upgraded modules while you decide whether to modify upgrades.

There's a much easier way to not send the users password.

Go to the Language Editor where you configure the content of the emails sent from DotNetNuke and remove the token for the users password:

Admin menu / Languages

Language Editor

press Ctrl + F to find 'EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE_BODY.Text' on the page

remove:

Password: [Membershipassword]


click update

That worked a treat!
