Hi guys,
I develop a website using DotNetNuke 4.9.1. I can't login after I did some modifications on some modules. Everytime I tried to click the Login button, it always brings me to the home page with this url: localhost/DNN/Default.aspx/tabid=37&error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instant+of+an+object.
I checked the database and the LoginTabID = NULL....Anyone knows how to handle this???
Thx.

Try:
http://localhost/DNN/login.aspx
http://localhost/DNN/?ctl=login
If neither of those get you to a login page, let us know.

If you have access to your database, look at the Portals table. Make sure that LoginTabID is set to NULL for the portal in question.

This table is part of your DotNetNuke database.
You might first want to review these tutorials to help understand the database and it's role in a DotNetNuke site:

Hi,
I still redirected to the home page with this URL: localhost/DNN/Default.aspx/tabid=37&error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instant+of+an+object...I installed DNN again in different location, and so far no problem...hopefully this issue doesn't appear during my presentation...
if anyone knows or has the same experience...will be great if u can share how to solve it...thx

durationinc,
You mentioned that the problem started when you made some modifications to some modules.
Which modules?
What kind of modifications?

Hi Joe,
Yes. But I don't think that is the problem. I installed another DotNetNuke in my PC (install version) and it is working fine, even after I installed the module (Enterprise Form) and modify some user accounts and roles.
I still can't login to my previous DotNetNuke portal until now. I tried to restart my IIS and no change. I am using IIS 7 and DotNetNuke 4.9.1 (with source code). I still can register though. And after the registration I am logged in as a registered user.
Thx

Let's back up and start over. Is this a new site or an upgrade of an existing site? If it is an upgrade, were you able to login before the upgrade?

I didn't do any upgrade...both are new installations (start from scratch). DNN version 4.9.1. Since the first DotNetNuke portal I set up somehow didnt allow me to login, I set up another DotNetNuke portal in different location and build it as what I've done in my first portal. So, I have 2 DNN portals now. I still can't login to my first (original) portal.

Since this is a new installation, it might make sense to delete it and start completely over. Delete the database, and delete all of the files in the web directory. Then do a complete install.
