I've set up a local host and want to run DNN for a local development machine. The host is set up; however I noticed straight away the images in the DNN setup screens do not display, though they are residing right where they should be. After passing the “Permissions Test” and “Connections Test”, on the next screen, -the 3rd screen- I receive an error while Database Installation Scripts are running. The installations of course won't move past this point.
-See attached Screen Shot-
I’m thinking it could be a permissions issue?
BTW...the OS is Vista Ultimate Any ideas?
Thanks in advance… Colby Dees

If you go to the
subscribe page
and click on the get free trial button - this takes you to a page where you can watch how to install DNN to Vista Ultimate.

Lee Thanks! Your tutorial did the trick, and I really appreciate the help.
My next challenge came after I finished the install. It seems I now can't
login using IE7. Clicking on login, it routes to the login page, but once
you enter the user name and password, it simply reverts back to the home page.
I tried a fresh re-install (twice in fact), and finally decided I was doing the
same things expecting new results. (LOL) What I have found out is; other browsers
will allow login. IE7 seems to be blocking cookies from my localhost. I have
tried setting Intranet privacy settings low, and ticking always allow cookies from
this site. However the blocked content icon shows in the status bar every time
I navigate to the localhost. Any ideas out there are appreciated. -I'm fresh
out of ideas-.

Hello,
This will be a setting within IE7, if you recall, in the tutorial when IE7 first loads up it gives you the option to allow access to localhost. - if you missed that, then that is the reason why you are not getting access.
Looking at my settings in IE7 in the security tab on local intranet it is set to medium-low.
The sites button has all three options ticked except 'automatically detect intranet network'
You may also want to experiment with the custom level options in the local intranet,
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. I actually had suspected I may have forgot something, so I went through and watched
the entire tutorial again prior to emailing the forum. I have also played around with custom settings in IE7.
Since I read your email I have looked at bits of the tutorial again. I cannot see that I have missed anything.
I noted in the tutorial that the privacy icon is also on when you bring up DNN for the first time, however it
obviously did not prevent you from a successful login.
Thanks,
Colby

Hello,
As this is an IE7 setting, I would do a google search for 'ie7 access to localhost'
This should help, thanks,

I wanted to follow up on this for anyone following this thread. I have been unable to solve this issue, and now have had two different respected individuals look at my VISTA machine, and neither were able to solve this challenge. Sad to say that for now I have given up. My DNN install works fine through Firefox and Safari; Additionally I have another XP machine, DNN runs fine with IE7 and my other browsers there.
Anyone who has new ideas, I welcome the suggestions. Lee, thanks for your help and suggestions, I appreciate the website and forum! I'm looking forward to diving in to some of the tutorials.
Cheers,
Colby

thanks for the feedback, if you need to get IE7 working, I would suggest you use virtual PC and setup your environment within a virtual PC. - it makes life a lot easier in the long run, you can find further information on using virtual PC here:
