I have a request from a customer that has put me at odds.  The customer has a lot of child pages to one of his parent pages on his site.  When using a verical menu, this causes a submenu with 20+ items in it.  He wants to remove these from the submenu i.e. uncheck include in menu.  The effect is removal from the menu as expected.  We also have a sitemap using Solpart forced menu and this will remove the item from that menu - an unwanted result. We are using ifinity FriendlyUrl for the site as well. If you go to the sitemap.aspx, then the item is removed from the xml sitemap as well.

The question - Is there a solution to allow you to not include in menu for the nav menu, but keep it intact for a user sitemap as well as a search engine sitemap.  SEO is a concern of mine.  I know I can get the articles indexed as they are linked on their parent page, but I have found keeping them in the sitemaps helps my efforts - not to mention auto population of future child page additions.

I know House of Menu has some options for not including in menu... but I have never used it before.  Does anyone know how I could fix this?  Or tell the customer it is not worth removing the items from the menu?

For your sitemap.xml file - use GSiteCrawler

You could create the site map before moving the sub menus out of the Nav menu to ensure GSiteCrawler can index the content. - once that content has been added it will stay within the sitemap file unless you delete it. - But I would follow the method below + then use GSiteCrawler.

You could also use the HOUSEMENU to display a submenu of a page, this is how I would set it up

Main Page
- - New Page (set to do not display in menu) eg. tab id=103
- - Old Sub Menu (set to display in menu)

Set Housemenu scope=103 in its settings

This will display the submenu pages of TabID 103 and the New Page will not display in the main menu.
