Hello, I seem to have a hard time finding any tutorials or directions for installing DNN 4.x.x to my own server so that I can host directly from it. I have access to Windows Server 2003 or 2008 and SQL Server 2005(8) Express I have IIS Setup as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to go this route instead of a hosting provider such as PowerDNN simply because my client's company has the bandwidth and resources available and would prefer to not outsource certain web developments. Thank you, James

It should be as simple as unziping the files into the website folder. Changing the connection string to your SQL Changing permissons on the files (network services, anonymous web user) Then loading the page to start the installer. Keep in mind you will need to configure your SQL to allow the connections. Depending on your setup you can find a windows VPS or dedicated server provider that offers management or a control panel that does the auto installs for you. If you are getting any errors when trying to load the dotnetnuke you can post them and mabye we can help you.

How has this been working for any of you with your own server? We already have a server just sitting around, more or less, with business type 10MB down, 2MB up cable internet, and our own Static IP. We are getting tired of shared hosting who always has overloaded SQL servers and thought we would try using our own server. We don't have any sites with streaming audio/video yet. Is 1-2MB bandwidth enough to run 30 (and growing) websites?
