Hi guys. I am following the tutorials on how to upload my dnn site to the hosting site. Problem is at the end of video 2 after changing the web.config file, when i try to open my site from the local host it is saying that the 'This Site is currently unavailable'

any ideas? i have gone over it from the start 3 times without any luck. am i best in continuing and trying to get it uploaded onto the web ? problem i am thinking that if it does not load now locally, it will have the same issue live.

any help would be appreciated, btw i am using sql express and dnn is loaded on vista.

okay, first question is have you got DotNetNuke working on your Vista installation as a fresh installation?

It's always best to get DotNetNuke up and running on your local computer before attempting to install a backup to your local computer.

ah misunderstood your original post. This sounds like a web.config problem, triple check the connection string and that the database is attached into SQL Server Express with the useraccount setup for the database.



I started answering this thinking you had done vid 3 - so here is another solution if you get problems later!

If you have made changes to the web.config database connection string to point to your live website database then it will be looking for the database on the live site. Carry on with the tutorial and upload it to your live site.

Once the site is live you can change the web.config connection string back to your local database and you will then be able to work on the local version again.
