I have following issues.

 

1. First I need user to get register himself/herself on my site through DNN register link. Then I will change his/her role to customer. Later I want to show customer’s profile. Can anybody tell me how to this.

    

2. Actually I want to save customer information into separate table (tbl_Customer). And by default DNN will save user’s information into some other table. So when user gets login it will check into DNN’s table. If that is customer then show ‘My Profile’ link, which should fetch data from tbl_Customer. I want to keep both link; DNN’s by default ‘username’ link (link near to LOGOUT) and my customized ‘My Profile’ link.

    

3. For eg. I register to this site as sandi sandi. So my basic information (first name, last name, password etc) is stored into DNN’s tables. When I clicked to username, DNN opens its default profile/register page. This website is also giving the ‘My Profile’ link, where I am getting my personal details (no. of posts, contact info etc).

    

Similar to this I want to keep my customer’s records… personal as well DNN’s default.

 

Please give me quick response so that I can move further. Also let me know if I need to explore my problem more.

1) You can automatically assign a role to a user when they register with a DNN site. This video explains how to do that: DotNetNuke Security Roles

To then display the users details alongside further details in a separate module, as we have done here:

• Create a new page
• Add to the page the "User Account" Module
• Add to the rest of the page any of your other modules which contain the further data you wish to associate with your user.

I have created a "My Account" link which then links to this new page.


You can also force the page when clicking on the login / profile / register links to go to another page that you have previously created - to set this go to:

Admin menu / Site Settings / Advanced Settings / Page Management

Here you can set a variety of pages to use instead of the defaults.

NOTE: One caution, if you select the Login page - make sure you select a page where you have inserted the login module, otherwise you will not be ale to log back in to your website!

Thank you for your reply.
Your points helped me to understand settings for the default pages.
My need is as follows.
I want to check logged in user. If this user is customer then I want to show his profile. I can do this easily by giving access of ‘My Profile’ page to customer role. But on that page I want customer ID so that I can show only his profile. How can track the customer Id (that is who is login and then get his/her Id).
Please tell me how to do this.

Is this for your own custom module?

If it is what I would suggest is to find a project module that displays the Username - such as the core project Forum module and download the source code. - From this you will be able to extract the line of code.

It is a simple line of code, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. - I'm currently very busy trying to complete the video tutorials on skinning for the next issue, so I thought it would be quicker for you to point you in the right direction, rather than wait a day or so for me to dig out the code!

Thanks for your help and hope you are enjoying Christmas holidays. I have found the user Id and now can do the things related to it.

 

My next module is to develop and tree structure design in my portal. So can you please tell me if such module is exists already or I can take reference from anywhere. Any link or docs or video will help me.

I feel I will explore more..

 

I want to show the user name and its child references. Like A have two child references as B & C. Then B may have D & E, and C may have another one or more child references.

 

Now I want to show A on top and ten bellow B & C as tree structure.
