Hello, I have done all steps explained in seeting up Email tutorial. I also got the blank "SMTP Configuration Test". But now, as a registered user asks for her/his password (forgot password? Page). Nothing happens, I mean she doesn't get any email. I don't know what could be wrong here?

The SMTP Authentifizierung works in all three modes (Anonym - Standard and NTLM).

If your site can send email, but doesn't send the Forgot Password message, are any errors displayed or in the Event Log?

Are you sure that the user(s) in question have valid email addresses?

Is your site set up to permit password recovery?

The actual settings for password retrieval are set in web.config. Unless you have changed them, your password retrieval should be set to true by default. But, if you look at Users, User Settings, you can see a display of your password settings.

You're absolutely positive that you site can send emails?

Hello, I think the site is able to send emails because:

* It is possible to send Newsletter, the host gets retrival password email, and by setting SMTP, the blank "Configuration successful" email is also been sent.

I think I should put this settings out of comment and change this line:
enablePasswordRetrieval="[true]"     

if this is the solution, should I compile the application and put it on the sever again? I am afraid of compiling .net applications.  I do not have a local installation of this application and it was an automated installtion...

If you can get the password reminder message, then you don't have to change a thing. The user should also be getting the reminder.

If the user isn't getting the reminder, then make sure that the email address is correct. The password reminder may well have been caught by a spam filter at the user's end of things.

No, you don't have to recompile anything.

The comment is probably ahead of the actual configuration line in your web.config file. I don't think that you need to change anything.

I too am having problems with getting emails. Have seen the web config settings and enablePasswordRetrieval is "true". The test email at host settings also went ok and got the mail for that but getting no emails for forget password.Interestingly the email id, the mail is to be send is the same. Checked event log also and it says password send. But still no mail recieved.

Do you have access to the logs for the SMTP server that you are using to send mail?  You should look there, or ask for help from the person who administers it.  The message in the DotNetNuke log file indicates that DotNetNuke successfully passed the email to the SMTP server.  So, the next place to look is the SMTP server.  There should be a log, and you should be able to trace the next step.
