DNN installation

During installation of dnn source version i got following error

00:00:23.468 - Error: An Unexpected Error Occurred During Registration. Please Contact The Portal Administrator For Futher Information.
00:00:23.468 - Portal failed to install:Error

now when i browse my site i got following error

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

and even i created virtual directory of my file i got these error

The source version of DotNetNuke isn't intended to be installed as a production site. Instead, you should use the Install Package.

Thank jncraig 4 the reply but i want to create some customized module and for that i download source version. Is there any other way to do it.

You don't need to use the source version for module development. You will need to use it if you are trying to modify the core code, something that I don't especially recommend doing. For module development, I'd recommend that you spend some time at Michael Washington's adefwebserver.com site. He is the master of module development.
