I am in the process of converting a "standard" site created in Dreamweaver to DNN. I have come to the conclusion that the only way to accomplish that is to copy content from a page or section at a time and paste it into DNN text/html modules. Is there a more efficient way to accomplish this, or a module available to facilitate?

Hi Don,

I'm currently unaware of a more efficient way of approaching this. This can have the advantage though that quiet often you can strip out excess code that dreamweaver creates and ensure that all styling is placed within your skin.css file. It can be useful for double checking that everything is coded correctly.

I can find my way around basic html and css , but I am not really into coding. That's why I use DNN. I found a module called "Page Sucker" at totallyfabricated.com for $25, but I am not sure the current version actually transfers content. Any experience with that?

I haven't used this module, but from reading the site, you need to provide a live URL link for the site that you wish to display in your DNN installation.

Also, it does this every time the page is loaded, so it doesn't actually transfer the content into your DNN portal, it just displays it from the live website within your DNN portal.

I don't think this is suitable for what you need.

If you are not experienced with coding, it should be a simple case of just copying the main text sections from dreamweaver and placing them into the Text/HTML module.

If you are needing to actually create the skin based on the dreamweaver design then you may find the tutorials from issue 5 onwards useful for taking you through skinning step by step.
