Where can I get more information on how to use and setup the the survey module  on a page(s)? 

I'd like to allow the public to take the survey but only allow registered users to view the results.   Finally does it come with any administor capabilies to change or update the collected data?

Check the manual which comes with it. Or in the project section of DNN. It is well explained (I am also a newby, but managed to understand the manual).
