Hi,

When I add a new portal to my installation it just goes to the default IIS page. I already have two portals working on this installation, but when I add a third with the same settings in the host file it doesn't work for some reason. I also tried to add a new portal alias to an already working portal and same thing happens.

What can possibly cause this?

Thanks
Martin

Hello,

Double check your portal alias settings, what settings are displayed for each of your portals in host menu / Portals ?

I have double checked my settings they seem to be correct.

I have also tried with two different installations, Host > [portal] > Advanced Settings > Portal Aliases > added new portal alias. Then I added this portals alias to my host file with same the IP as the old working aliases. Same result, page goes to IIS' default page.

This is driving me crazy and have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

Things to check:
-is there a DNS listing and/or an A record ( correct ip? you may need to delete and recreate this)
-are nameservers for domain pointing to the correct DNS (ex: dns1.somename.com, dns2.somename.com)
-is there a host header in the iis website listing ( make sure port & ip are correct)
-when you add new portal, is portal alias correct (ex: "www.mysite.com" or "mysite.com" or "forum.mysite.com")

If this all appears correct, try adding an alias you know works, a working A record used for a dev site for example.

I'm running this installation locally on my machine.

In IIS I have set up site bindings like this:
Type: http
Host: portal1.dev
Port: 80
IP address: *

Then in the host file:
192.168.1.4 portal1.dev

I also have a second portal:
192.168.1.4 portal2.dev

Both of these portals are working fine.

Then I added a third portal, set it up exact the same as portal #2:
192.168.1.4 portal3.dev

Since the alias portal1.dev is working, I tried to remove that alias from portal #1 and instead add it to portal #3, then the portal is working fine.
Also if I add a new portal alias to an already working portal I see the same error.

Seems like all of the sudden I can't add new portal alias.
