DNN4.3 has two skins blue and grey.  How can I upload the other color skins in 4.0 installation?

Just download v4.0 from dotnetnuke.com go to the portal / default / skins folder
open the skin folder you wish to use
select all of the files
zip them into a zip file - name the zip the name of the skin, ie 'DNN-Green'
upload the zip file to your dnn installation exactly as you would install a skin

Thanks,

I did just that and it seemed to upload ok and showed the downloaded list. But, when I go to skins it shows the green skin but when I open it it states that the folder is empty

When you create the zip file, make sure there is not a folder inside the zip file containing the skin files. You need to make sure it just contains the skin files.

I'm running 4.3.6 on localhost. I successfully uploaded the Simple Red Leaf 5 Panes.zip file as a new skin in my host login. I uploaded the zip file that I downloaded from the magazine site. After that, I can see from the Skins page that there are skins in the folder. Then I unzipped the folder, renamed it and re-zipped it. When I tried to upload this one, it uploads, but then the Skins page says there are no skins in the folder. I did this same experiment on another fresh skin package that I built, and I can't get it to see the skins in it either.

Have a look at your \Portals\_default\Skins directory of your dnn. there you see what skins are installed for the host.

That's what I'm saying. The one's that I have zipped are not in in the \Portals\default\Skins directory. The one's that were zipped when I downloaded from the magazine work and are there.

Then your skins which you uploaded are not correct.

No matter you can simply copy the the skins direct without problems.

I personaly always copy the dnn blue skins and than change them to what I  need.

lgood,

When you create the zip file, make sure there is not a folder inside the zip file containing the skin files. You need to make sure it just contains the skin files.

Double check this by just double clicking on the zip file to view the contents of the zip file without extracting it. Compare your own skin file contents to the Red Leaf skin contents are they the same or do you have a folder inside the zip folder?

Thanks,
