So i'm still having serious problem to set up a "Content Administrator" account that will be able only to edit the modules content.
Here is a short summary of what i've done so far:
1. I established a portal and set myself an administrator account (say, 'tiktakit')
As an administartor:|
2. I added 2 html/text editors and one IFRAME modules.
3. I defined a new security role called "Content Administrator" in <global role> group. it's not auto and not public.
4. i created a new user account for this portal, called, say, "hadar".
5. I added the new user to the above security role.
6. For each module, i clicked 'Settings' on the modules menu and checked all the checkboxes in 'View', and the 'hadar' {content administrator} under edit. I did NOT inhert it from page because this way the 'view' checkboxes were unmark and i couldn't mark them (weird, because i checked the page settings and the 'view' permissions there are all marked for all kind of users).

I logged with 'hadar' account and could only see 3 modules - IFRAME which i could edit, but two text modules that were empty. when i first added the modules i inserted ALL of them text. now i can't see or edit it in the TEXT modules.

I repeated everything i did from the HOST aacount - didn't work.

so wat shall i do? am i doing anything wrong ?

I've just double checked the way everything works in 4.3.4 and everything works ok for me, so here it is step by step in 4.3.4:

Go to Admin / Site Settings / Security Roles
Click Add new role
Give it the name and description of: TextModuleEdit
Click update

Go to Admin / user accounts
Add a new user
Give it the username of textmodule

Click on All in User Accounts
Click the edit pencil icon for the textmodule user
Click manage roles for this user
Select TextModuleEdit
Click on Add Role
The security role should now appear in the list

Go to the Home Page
Select a Text/HTML module and go to the Settings menu
In edit module select 'TextModuleEdit'
In View - it's is not selectable because it is inheriting view permissions from the Page Settings. - This is ok as long as you have set the page to be viewable by all users
Click on Update

Logout and Login as user: textmodule

You will see the settings menu is available for the Text/HTML module - this just gives you the options of:

Edit Text
Help
Online Help

Click on edit text
Make the changes you need

why is it happening ?

I don't know why this would happen if you are following the steps you should be ok. - If you want email me the URL and your administrator access username and password and I will set it up for you.

Email: lee at dnncreative.com

At least this way you will know if it is a DNN installation problem or an administration problem.

I will be available over the next hour, after that I won't be back until Wed.

Thanks,

Hello,

Ok, I've managed to get it working on the Home page, I could not tell what was happening on the link you gave me because of the Hebrew, but I worked it out on the Home Page.

The problem was that you had the cache set to 60secs. - I removed this, clicked on refresh and then the Edit Text function displayed.

Apart from that you had set everything in the security roles correctly.

I've set it up on the welcome to the website module on the Home Page.

- I also noticed you are using v4.3.3 - I strongly recommend you upgrade to 4.3.4 as there are security flaws in 4.3.3 which are fixed in 4.3.4

- Hope this helps, thanks, and Happy Nuking!

Lee

I have installed dnn 4.8.2 to realized my site but I have this problem:
I have created role group and a user "daniela" under it; I have assigned  "edit permission" to this group
for some modules in a page.
Unfortunately when I logon as "daniela" a can't see editor menu but I have control panel with read and edit radiobutton
So I'am sure that I am known as module editor but, for any mysterious cause, "editor menu" doesn't displayed

I have also another installation of dnn 4.8.2 and in there I have made the same procedure and all things work successfully

Can somebody help me?
Thanks in advance

Hello,

Did you solve this problem?  When you login and click on the edit radio button, do any module menus appear?

Could you provide a screenshot image to show us the problem?

Thanks,

yes, I've solved my problem :

I have notice that checkbox "View Container" in module setting was unchecked.

After 2 weeks of desperation it's been sufficient checked that.
