Hi,

Recently our production DNN install (DNN 4.8.4) with 50+ portals started misbehaving as when expanding sections in Site Settings or Host Settings such as Advanced Settings, it expands for a few seconds and then collapsed which doesn’t allow us ersonName w:st="on">toersonName> make changes in those sections at all.  If if stays expanded long enough ersonName w:st="on">toersonName> click on a checkbox or on a drop down list, it also collapsed right away!

I thought it could be due ersonName w:st="on">toersonName> ersonName w:st="on">toersonName>o many Portals on the DNN installation but we create a brand new Test DNN with only the default portal and same thing which rules out performance issues.

Any ideas as we can’t change settings in either Admin or Host which is a major issue.

Cheers,

Max.

Hi,

I apologise for all the happy faces which seemed to have been caused by cutting & Pasting of the text.

The cleaned version is:

Recently our production DNN install (DNN 4.8.4) with 50+ portals started misbehaving as when expanding sections in Site Settings or Host Settings such as Advanced Settings, it expands for a few seconds and then collapsed which doesn’t allow us to make changes in those sections at all.

I thought it could be due to too many Portals on the DNN installation but we create a brand new Test DNN with only the default portal and same thing which rules out performance issues.

More research shows the issues happens on both IE and Firefox on XP but is fine on Windows Server when using IE!  Lots of our clients maintaining their Portals use XP and are facing this issue.

When generalized behavior like this starts, stopping and restarting IIS sometimes works.

Thanks,

Yes, I did restart IIS and event the server to make sure but no luck.

Again, the issue seems to be happening when using an XP (IE or FF) or linux client but OK when using a Vista or windows 2003 client.  Therefore OS and ajax issue maybe?

Unfortunately most of our clients use XP to maintain their site.

I've not seen anything like you have described. I use XP most of the time, Vista some of the time. I mostly use Firefox, and IE for testing.

Yes I use FF and IE in XP most of the time and have also not come across this problem. Thanks for the login details, I disabled Ajax in that installation, let us know if this solved the problem, thanks,

Unchecking  the ajax option unfortunately didn’t work when working on my XP client but it looks like the issue is not happening on most XP clients which is good unlike first thought.  It has happened to a client also using XP but not to most which is good for us.  I have made sure to have all latest updates locally but the issue still persists but I am running out of ideas and just hope the problem will resolve itself as I can use vista for now to edit sub sections.

Thanks Joe and Lee for your help.

Cheers,

Max.
