Greetings.

I have a DNN site (3.3.4) that i want to move to a backup server. Then i want to upgrade it to 4.4.1. We have to wipe the production server (memory all in the wrong places) so once done, place new updated site back to server.

I am a novice with all of this.

Here are the steps i am thinking of taking. Please let me know your thoughts on whether this is the right approach.

Do i simply drag over the portal folder. Copy the database. Alter the web.config and bingo, it all lights up!!

Or will it be easier to use a backup/restore program. If so, any suggestions to what works best.

Thank you. Regards. H

Hello,

Yes copying across the DotNetNuke installation files and the database should work. Just make sure that you create a backup of everything before attempting it. You may also want to checkout this forum post:
