I have reviewed several of the articles for RSS and the Blog, however I haven't found any specifications describing my exact requirements.

I have a DNN 4.8.4 site with a Blog post on a seperate page and I would like to place the most blog summaries on the "Home" page.  When the links are clicked, I would like them to lead the user to that place on the blog page, not the XML page.

I have tried the announcements option, but again, it leads the user to XML details....

I have attempted to use the news feed module with no success - it won't even render the XML url.

I am sure this is described on another topic in a forum, but I was unable to search for it successfully.
- If not, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have tested this in 4.8.4 and I have it working ok.

I have set this up by enabling syndication in the blog module settings, clicking on the orange RSS icon in the blog module and then copying the URL for the RSS feed.

Install the newsfeed module to the home page, for the newsfeed source paste in the URL for the RSS feed.

For the newsfeed stylesheet, use example one (RSSDisplayHTML.xsl) from this page: Setting up the RSS News Feed XSL Stylesheet

This should display the RSS feed for the blog module, and when you click on the link it should open the post in the actual blog module.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tested with the XSL stylesheet specified and still no success. The Blog module is version 3.04.00. The error I receive states:

System.Xml.Xsl.XslLoadException
XSLT compile error.
Feed 'http://www.domain_name.com/Home/Blog/tabid/92/rssid/4/Default.aspx' could not be loaded. Error: Download error

Hello,

I tested with blog module 3.04.00 and News Feeds 3.01.01

It should work, can you display other RSS feeds in the RSS feed module? Try this feed

Still no luck with this feed. I can get both of these links to render if pasted in Internet Explorer, but I get the same error in the news feed. I checked the module settings and double checked to make sure the xsl defined is correct.

hello,

If you add an RSS feed and do not specify an xsl file, does the RSS feed display as HTML?

With this version of the Newsfeeds, it requires you specify an XSL file or it defaults to to 'default.xsl [System]'.
If that is the question, then no, nothing works their either.

ok, next question, are you testing this on a live website, or a localhost installation?

Could it be a problem with your hosting provider?

If it is a live website, try creating a backup of the live website and installing it to your local computer, and then see if the RSS feed is working, this way you will be able to find out if it is a problem with your hosting provider.

I tested the feed from the blog site on a different site I have hosted elsewhere and everything works fine. I agree this is a hosting issue which doesn't surprise me. I am assisting a friend with his site that is currently hosted at Godaddy. I have moved everything I have to 'elsewhere' and will likely suggest the same for him.

In the mean time - any ideas how to address this with the provider or any known work arounds?

Hello,

I don't know of a workaround, I can only suggest you ask the other guys who are also hosted with GoDaddy

Well, a bit more digging and it appears once again, it is a GoDaddy feature...

Apparently, it is believed that Godaddy is utilizing a proxy that prevents web request to it web servers.

Thanks once again for your deligent follow up and genuine interest.
