Hello Forum,

I'm currently running DNN 4.8.4 and would like to know how to turn on SSL only during the login page.  I know that I can select SSL option for other page, but I can't figure out what I need to do just for login.  A step-by-step is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

First, you need to install your SSL certificate.

Under Admin, Site Settings you will find the SSL settings in the Advanced section. First, enable SSL.

Then, for pages that you want to protect with SSL, go to the Page Settings section and check the "Secure" box.

Hi jncraig,

Thanks for your reply.  I have already set up my SSL certificate and is able to make it work for one of my regular page (i.e. registration), so I'm familiar with the procedure you are taking about.  However, what I'm looking for is to encrypt the Login.  Here is the example link I want to achieved: https://www.dotnetnuke.com/Home/SecureLogin/tabid/1102/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2fDefault.aspx

Thanks,
Minh

You'll need to make a custom login page and secure it. Create a new page, and place the login module on that page. Then, go to Site Settings and look for the Page Management section. Specify your custom login page as the login page and you should be set.

Again, thanks for the reply, however, I don't think that's how www.dotnetnuke.com site did it.  I want to do what they did.  I did what you suggested before, but it is not the same.  Bottom line, does anyone here know how www.dotnetnuke.com did it?  Thanks.

When I go to the DotNetNuke site and click the Login button, I'm sent to another page that contains the Login module and via SSL. What do ou see that is different? What else would you like to do?

Hi Joe,

When you login into dotnetnuke.com, you will notice the user name which is part of the default login user control.  I don't think by adding the login module gives you this.  Also, if you add the login module into a page, once login in, you will see the login module which again you won't see that in dotnetnuke.com

Thanks,

For the first part, if you are referring to the "Register | Login" links that changes to "Username | Logout" after logging in, that's the normal behavior of the skinobjects that are used. They are not the login module.

For the second, you display the login module only to "unauthenticated users." Also, you should be returned to the prior page after login. You can also set up a "redirect after login" page.
