I am working on a website and want to create links but when I highlight the word, click on "create link", fill in everything, and then hit OK, I get box that says:
"The page at www.mywebsite.com says: You must enter a link" and the link didn't get created.
What is wrong?  How can I fix this?
Thanks
HAW

Hello,

I have just tested this and you are correct, I also get this error. I would recommend you change the text editor to the FCKEditor as it is much more reliable.
How to install the FCKEditor

You can download the FCK editor from the downloads page on DotNetNuke.com. the latest version of the FCK editor is slightly easier to install since the video tutorial was created, you should be able to follow the instructions with the FCK editor and the video to get it installed easily.

Hello Lee,

Thanks for your answer.  I went and watched your tutorial, which was what I was doing.  However, when I click "upload" nothing happens or I get this message:

A critical error has occurred.

Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

So basically, I can't upload any images or anything else, for that matter into the portal.  What now???

Thanks,

Heidi

Hello,

-   So have you successfully installed the FCK editor?
Is this a local host installation or a live website?
Can you upload images using the file manager and then access them using the FCK editor?

Thanks,

Hello Lee,

I watched your tutorial for the installation of the FCK editor.  I am totally lost because I don't get any of the icons that you are describing.

These are the icons that I see in the zip file that comes up after I download the FCK editor:

 _documentation.html

_upgrade.html

_whatsnew.html

_samples

_testcases

_editor

fckconfig.js

fckeditor.afp

fckeditor.asp

fckeditor.cfc

fckeditor.afm

fckeditor.js

fckeditor.lasso

fckeditor.php

fckeditor.pl

fckeditor.py

fckeditor.php4.php

fckeditor.php5.php

fckstyles.xml

fcktemplates.xml

htaccess.txt

license.txt

I have now idea where you are with all those icons that you are describing and that you click on.  So what do I do now?

Thanks,

Heidi

You need FTP access to upload the files to your DNN portal.
When you extract the FCK editor zip file you will have two folders:

DSFCKEditorProvider
Bin

Copy the content from the bin folder to the bin folder on your DotNetNuke installation
Copy the DSFCKEditorProvider folder  into your DotNetNuke installation folder at -  Providers\HtmlEditorProviders

Read the install text file that comes with the FCK editor.

This will give you the details and the code that you need to add to the web.config file in your DotNetNuke installation (backup this file before editing it)

Once you have edited the web.config file, the text/HTML module will automatically start using the FCK editor

Hope this helps to make it clearer,

Thanks,
