I have a module I want to deploy on a particular page. The module is a table of products and has related category data. I'd like to be able to add that categorical data to the main DNN menu for that page. Basically have Home, Contact, Location, etc. the main pages of a typical website, and then another page for Products. "Products" would appear in the main menu and then a hover over or some type of JQuery event would display the categories of products.

I know how to write the SQL to get the categorical data in to an XML table or just straigh up SQL View, my question is how do you "tie" the main menu to your data driven sub menu? Is that a menu provider task? Is is something the module does during installation? Any guidance, starting points, would be appreciated.

I can't tell you how to do this, but ... I'd think you could start with a version of the Mega menu into which you can add other things. I've seen them, and I've seen them done with the DDR menu.

The trick will be to build some custom jQuery that adds the extra stuff to the menu. jQuery has the potential to completely restructure the menu. You'll need to also get the category list somehow. Getting it into the page will presumably need to be done on the server side and then manipulated on the client side with jQuery.
