Hi there.  I have been asked to make our intranet available outside the office.  So I have been looking but I don't see site-wide permissions.

I experimented with setting permissions on pages, but that doesn't seem thorough.  True, when I logged out I saw no pages except the login page.  But my skin includes a Search box and when I tried it, a ha, the results took me right to some content.

BTW, we are on 5.2.3.

Related,  we use Active Directory Provider to provide our people in the office single-sign on to the network and the site.  I turned off registration so from outside a non-registered person would not get a Register link.  But, I guess this means that my AD auto-register process for new users wont work.

Anyway, I'd like non-registered folks to only get a login prompt.

I'm sure its there but I don't see site-wide permissions.  Please advise.

There isn't a "site wide" permission setting.  Setting permissions on pages is the right approach.  You can use the feature to copy permissions to child pages to simplify, but you will have to make sure to hit all of the top level menu pages.

Don't forget that there are pages not included in the menu.  You can find them on the Admin, Pages page.

Also, make sure that the login page IS visible to all so that it is possible to login.

You should be able to keep Active Directory authentication, but you might also want to enable regular login for those not on the intranet.  I've not used AD for over a year, so I'm not totally up to date.  But, I've also gotten really good assistance asking questions on the AD forum at DotNetNuke.com.
