Hello, Can I set the folder permissions on the remote server myself using DW or WVD? If possible please let me know which folders? I don't know why sometimes, actually very often once I work on my DNN 5.2.1 after a while there is no permission for uploading picts in different folders anymore. This time it seems that I have to fix this problem myself. Thanks for your answer

Hello FW,

The easiest way to set permissions is your control panel, Log in to your CP, click on your domain, in the files section, click on Files Manager, there you will see all your files and folders (within your hosting account). to change the permissions click on the small lock icon on the right side and change permission.

This procedure applies to Plesk, Plesk Power Pack and Plesk Business Automation. If your CP is dotnetpanel, this procedure is slightly different, instead of Domain you will need to go in "Hosting Spaces" section and then click on File Manager.

I hope this will help.

Thanks for your answer Rashid! May you please kindly let me know

- Which folders
- AND for whom
- AND which kind of security for the folders should be set (read, write,...)

Sorry for this much questions, but I don't want to make any risks, specially after 2 hacker attacks.

Do you maybe know how can I prevent that? Some times I loose some entered data and herewith time.

Regards

Every file and folder in your web directory needs to permit the ASP.NET worker task to have full access.  That includes the root directory.

It is more likely that attacks against your site are targeted at IIS rather than DotNetNuke. That said, there are occasional security fixes to DotNetNuke. That is one of the reasons that keeping your site upgraded to a recent version of DotNetNuke is recommended. Go to the DotNetNuke website to read the Security Bulletins.
