Hi,

When pressing Login (Sign In) on one of my clients portals the adress for the homepage gets sort of appended to the url - pressing it again appends another instance of the adress to the url - and so on...

I have never seen this kind of behavior and of course it means I can't login to the site. The site runs on DNN 04.08.04.

Have anybody seen this before? I could really need some help

See it in action here (press Sign In):

Is this site using a custom skin?

I don't think it's a skin issue. I have tried changing to DNN default skin and the problem remains. I can login to the child portals and can access the portal settings through the host menu. I even tried to export the portal template but got an error.
It's pretty frustrating.

Hmmm, I think that I have seen something like this before, but I'm having trouble remembering the exact cause. It may have been a problem with the site's portalalias entry.

Since changing the skin doesn't solve the problem, you can rule that out.

A thought: see if you can use Fiddler to see if this is caused by some redirection. If so, that might indicate a portalalias issue, or something being done at the IIS level.

Problem solved!

Though I am not sure how. I haven't talked to my programmer yet, but he sent a mail and here's what he said:

The database log contained over 50.000 posts! He cleared the log and then got the error:
admin_containers_visibility_ascx' is ambiguous in the namespace ASP

which apparently made login impossible - you have to clear the temporary asp-files located in:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files

And...I am not sure about this part... He said ... To be able to do this and to get access to the server (?)
You have to shut down batch-compilation in the web.config:

Does this make any sense to you experts out there..?

Anywho, I am really glad it's solved.

Glad that you got it solved.

There is a free module available from Iowa Computer Gurus that automates periodic cleaning of the database.  Use of it could save you some problems in the future.

Thanks for the tip. I will let my programmer check it out. This is the module you're referring to, right? http://www.iowacomputergurus.com/fr...-jobs.aspx Pontus
