Does anyone know how to make links to documents appear with the document name/path instead of linkclick? In my previous version of DNN (4.8.3) when the user linked a file on the site the link appeared as /portal/0/filename.PDF now since upgrading to 5.2.2 it is appearing as /LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=I5c8f0bk4Pw%3d&tabid=78. The user does not need the files to be secure. The problem is that when the link is copied from the website to an email using a MAC the link in the email appears as a very ugly

It seems that in DNN5 links between pages are now friendly names but file links are not. Is there a configuration setting (or any other way) to change this?

When you create the link, do not check the box to track the number of times the file is opened. That should do it.

That was what I asumed but the tick box is off by default and I have not activated it. To check that my site was not corrupt in some way I have installed a new website using 5.2.3. This does exactly the same. Linking to a page works fine but linking to a file always seems to use linkclick. There must be some config change to make it use the path and file name; problem is I cannot find how. PS I have not misspelt asumed but when I spell it correctly it ends up on the post as umed, the profanity checker is a bit aggressive!

Hello,

I've checked this, and I have the same problem, I also cannot find a way to turn off that setting.

The only way you're going to get around this at the moment that I can see is to type in the URL directly.

Thanks for the tip on the profanity checker - it has recently being implemented after someone decided to "test" if we had one. - I will make sure you can use a s sume!

Whoops.  I was confusing file names with page names.

as far as I know, there is no way to not use linkclick other than to hard code the long url

Select link text
click on link button
Link info tab: type in long link url ( just like any external url, you need to know the actual location in your site structure of the file, Ex: http://winxweb.com/Portals/0/Docume...mydoc.pdf)
Target tab: select "_blank"
