Not sure whether a module is needed or just a couple of good DNNCreative training videos:

There are tons of resources available on the net but no easy way to integrate them into DNN.  For instance, Google products are somewhat easy to integrate as they use javascript and have very good documentation. So most of the time you can just add the javascript to a text/html module and you're good to go. Although a training video for this would still be good.

But many other resources use REST or SOAP or some other method.  I'm thinking that the core XML module may help somewhat with the REST based resources but I haven't a clue where to start.

What would be nice is a DNN module that acts as a framework and makes it easy (or at least easier) to integrate outside resources into DNN.  Maybe something like the Script Injector module from Gumbosoft but focused on API's.

Thoughts?

Interesting, yes could be a possibility, I would be interested to hear other opinions or thoughts on web services that would be useful.

I am not experienced with REST or SOAP, so those maybe delving out of my depth for creating training.

Thanks,

Chris Busse gave a nice talk in June to the Capital DotNetNuke User Group.  He showed how to use REST with DotNetNuke.  He used the Twitter API as an example. I think that was video taped, but it's not on the website yet.

The is also an IWeb module available for developing web services and integrating them into DotNetNuke.

Thanks Joe!

I've got that site bookmarked so I'll have to keep checking for the video.

I've known about Michael W's Iweb module for some time but I thought it was a module to make your DNN data available to outside sources rather than the other way around. I may have to take another look at it.

Keep an eye on capitaldug.org. I imagine the video will show up one of these days.
