Dear Colleagues,

I manage a site, which is a portal in a larger dotnetnuke environment with several portals. I want to format the way data is displayed in the events module page, but the site manager tells me that if we modify the events aspx files, it will affect the whole site, including users of other portals who have used the events module. What can I do?

Thank you and regards.

If you create a skin for your site, it will apply only to your site.  Also, portal.css applies only to your site.

The trick here is to change the styling via CSS, not by modifying aspx files.

Dear Craig,
Thank you very much for taking your time to explain. I guess I was not clear, but what I actually wanted to achieve is to format the display aspects/elements/fields etc which is on the aspx files. But the problem is the admin could not grant me access to the files in the server and asked me to see whether i can have a diff module which he could install as a separate one.

I was under the impression that the current version of the Events module supported templates for display.  If that's correct, you can create custom templates.  You may need to ask the admin to install the templates for you.

If you cannot use templates and CSS to achieve the look that you need, you will have to create a custom version of the Events module.  You can do this from the source version.  I would suggest that your custom module use a separate name to distinquish it from the unmodified version.  You appropriately named and packaged version can be installed (you'll need the admin to do that part), but you can then use it separately from the "regular" Events module.
