Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had figured out a way to display a module based on when a role does not exist.  I have over 40 pages where information will display based on a given role (1 different role for each page).  So, if they have the role, the module containing the information shows up.  However, I want a text/html module to show up when the role does NOT exist that will inform the user how to gain access to the information on that page.

Another approach would be to hide this text module if the role does exists.  Either approach would work fine for me.

I do not want to create an additional 40 roles just for this text/html module because we are doing some programming to control these roles and the overhead of an additional 40 would not be worth the effort.

Can anyone help me out with this?  It seems like there should be a way to do this.

For this I use Ventrian.com subscription tools, you can specify content for a security role, and a generic message for any other security roles or unauthenticated users.

DNN 5.1 has this functionaility built in - in the view permissions for a module, keep clicking on the view permissions and you will see the options rotate between the 3 options available.

Thanks for the information Lee.

I will check out that site.  I am not ready to move to DNN 5 at this time, but I will keep that in mind.

If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks again,

John
