Hi Everyone,

i have created my own custom module and after that i have uploaded it into the dotnetnuke portal. But when i am trying to use it in DotNetNuke portal .it is giving me an error message.

Error: HelloEnhesa is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. (C:\DotNetNuke\desktopmodules\helloenhesa\web.config line 19) ---> System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. What should i need to do.

Do you know the list of files which we need to use in DotNetNuke 5.0. Because sometime when we upload the module in DotNetNuke portal it shows us the error Invalid File Extensions. But i not quite sure for which files he is talking about. so is there any refrence material from there i can get some help on this.

Thanks

This is a guess, but ' invalid file extensions' may be referring to the file types that you are allowed to upload to your DotNetNuke installation.

To check this, go to:

HostSettings / advanced settings / other settings

And check the list of allowable file extensions

I've seen this happen when a Thumbs.db file ends up in the package file when you copy in a directory full of images.

As Lee noted in another thread, if you are using DotNetNuke 5.0, there is a check box that you can check to ignore (I assume that this means skip) files with "illegal" extensions.

Hello,

I have run into this problem as well.  I have installed many modules on many different skins without issues until now:

DNN Verison:  5.02

Module Install Error Message:

A critical error has occured

Illegal Characters in Path

I looked for the check box in host settings but could not find anything.  thoughts?  thanks so much.

This also happens if your subprojects are inside the web you are trying to compile and they there has created several web.config. Delete all web.config but to one in your root and then your problem might be solved.

Is this a custom module?  Does this occur during the install?  If so, I would look at the module's manifest file.

Also, look in the event log to see if there are more details.

And, as noted, your custom module should not have its own web.config file.
