On my site the meta title and meta descriptions are not showing properly. It's showing the meta tags of a particular page along with some other meta tags from another page.

What's the solution for this?

Is it possible to import site template in DNN Platform 8.0?

We have internal Evoq Content 8.1 that we would like downgraded to free (community DNN) version. Downgrading the site seems to be possible but very labor intensive opening a lots of troubleshooting opportunities.

Another approach would be starting from clean DNN Platform installation and then importing the existing site, but it looks only the newest version 9.1.1 has that option. Not sure why is that so because it does not make sense to have export option if you cannot import.

"Ghost" TabID Number?

Hi!

I have a portal instance with multiple child portals and on one of the child portals, there is a link to a page with an Events module on it. The module appears correctly in View mode and the calendar events can be viewed, but when trying to edit an existing calendar entry or add a new calendar entry, it errors out with an ASP.net error.

**Note that I recently moved this portal instance from a hosting company to a private server. On the old server, you could add and edit the Events calendar data - but not so on the new server instance.

Upon closer inspection, I found that the tabid for the Events module is in a range outside of what is normal for this child portal. All of the other modules in the portal use a 28XX tabid number, but the Events module's tabid is 3891. I think this explains why data can't be added or edited in that it is trying to write to another portal's Event module. I can't explain however why it can still read data.

How can I track down which portal the #3891 tabid is coming from? I've looked through the SQL Server database for it but that is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Also, is there any way to export the data from one instance of the Events module and import it into a new instance?

Publish All Pages

I'm using DNN Evoq Content Basic 8.2.0.

When I make the HTML Pro module display on all pages, I have to visit each page and click publish for it to go live. Is there a way to publish pages without visiting each one and without publishing a page that isn't suppose to be published?

Simpler profile needed in 9.2.2

We are upgrading a DNN 4.8.4 site to DNN 9.2.2. On 4.8.4, the top bar shows the user’s name. If you click it, they get to Manage Profile: tabs for User Credentials, Password, and Profile, in which they can edit 6 properties, including Country, Time Zone and Preferred Locale. That’s all that is needed for this site.

On the 9.2.2 site-to-be, I’m having trouble reproducing this simplicity. I had trouble with the default theme Xcillion. On the DNN store I found dnnContra, but am having a similar sort of problem.
Functionally, dnnContra has 3 partially applicable icons in the top bar, all of which go to
www.mySite.com/Activity-Feed/My-Profile/userId/2,
discussing Messages and Notifications, which are not applicable. They do offer “Edit Profile”, which does offer functionality akin to 4.8.4, using URL
www.mySite.com/Activity-Feed/My-Profile/ctl/Profile/userId/2/pageno/2
These icons and URL’s seem to be made available in top-bar-user-functions.ascx through these controls:

I can simply delete two of these and leave or modify “profiles”.

Question 1: How can I coax DNN:user..."profiles" to both display the user’s name and to go to www.mySite.com/Activity-Feed/My-Profile/ctl/Profile/userId/2/pageno/2 when clicked?

Question 2: When I get to 9.2.2’s Profile page, it has tabs for Communications and Manage Services, as well as a “Profile URL” property on the Manage Account tab. How can I remove these, or at least hide them?

How to link from dnnmodal popup to web site page?

Hello all.
I am using a dnnmodal.show popup. The popup works correctly, showing the content that I want in the popup. However, I want to allow the user to click and go to another page on the same portal. The below code works in an html module, but when in a popup it only closes the popup and does nothing else.

DNN 9.2, how to set default theme?

I cannot find how to set a default portal theme in DNN 9.2
Installed a fresh DNN 9.2 localhost site. Then installed skin and container extensions for a custom theme. When adding a page, the theme/template is that for Xcillion.

From the Persona bar-->Pages-->Home--Advanced-->Appearance: shows the site default page theme to be Xcillion. Where can I set the default page theme to my custom theme?

tweaking premium skins or default dnn skins in DNN 9.1.1

Hello There I am not sure if I posted this in a different thread but I am having a lot of difficulty tyring to tweak a skin that I purchased from a third party vendor. When I was working with DNN 6 and DNN7 I could install the skin or simply save the skin in dnn's file system portals/_default/sins and tweak an ascx file as needed so I can further customize the skin beyond what the third party vendor had done.

Since DNN 7 I have jumped over DNN 8 and installed DNN 9.1.1 and purchased a skin file from dnn store figuring I could use their skin as a template and just tweak some ascx files as needed. When I installed Doris theme via DNN 9.1.1 extensions it worked as the vendor intended however the files that were packaged in the zip file never showed up in DNN's file system when I used my ftp client to browse to portals/_default/sins or portals/_default/containers. It just didn't exist. DNN 9.1.1 default skin showed up in the skins and container folders but not the premium skin I purchased and installed.

I also deleted the default skin folder that came with DNN 9.1.1 which was Xcelion I think was the name of that skin and did this in both the container and skins folder but the graphic of the default skin still was there and when I clicked to use that skin it appeared to still be usable though the actual folder containing all these ascx files were now gone.

I guess the question I have than is this. Is there anyway by which I can tweak ascx files found in the skin packaged in the .zip file and have DNN recognize it and show those changes. Can I simply copy the premium skin files via ftp into the portals/_devault/skins area and be able to play with the ascx files and have it be reflected in DNN 9.1.1 or is it that once you install the skin into the extensions area that it only reads the skin within the database instead of the old way of doing things with the file system.

If DNN now only reads the database to find out if skins exist instead of the actual folders and files you get when you install DNN than can you point me to a tutorial or info as to how I could take a premium skin and or container that goes with that skin, tweak it by editing the ascx file in visual studio and then put it back into DNN 9.1.1 with my customizations and have DNN 9.1.1 accept the change and see it refelcted on my site as I would like to not have to contact the vendor for customizations outside their out of the box capabilities.

For example I would like to take the skin object logos and move it to a different part of the skin so it is over a colored background area that the menu system sits in opposed to having the logo above the menu bar as it happens to be out of the box. Changing logo positioning is not something the skin developer gave me control over but this is the reason I would like to be able to tweak premium skins so I can rearrange skin objects that are found in the ascx files a bit here and there so I can maybe have the log in skin object at the footer of the skin and the header instead of the header alone.

Anyway these are just a couple examples on what I would like to be able to do with skins installed in DNN 9.1.1 so if you have any idea of any information of how I can play with the skin file and reupload it, re-register it, etc... so that modules that are lying on the skin doesn't get messed up because of the re-registration that would be great. Ideally tweaking the file and pushing it up ftp would be the most efficient way for me like I did in DNN 6 or DNN7 but it seems to me like those days maybe over however if I can get my hands on the new way of revising skins that is what I need for my client.

Folder and File synchronization

I am trying to sync up files and folders in DNN 9.1.1. In DNN 6 and 7 I could create a folder in dnn file manager then I could upload a file via ftp and click on recrusive sync and the file would show up in DNN file manager as well as in the physical fpt account. It never worked that you could create or upload a folder via ftp in the portal's root and expect it to show in DNN file manager but you could create the folder in DNN file manager and upload files via ftp into the folder that was created in DNN which would show up in ftp client as well as DNN.

With DNN 9.1.1 when I uploada file via ftp (even if creating the folder in DNN) I can't seem to sync that file to show up in DNN site assets even when I choose to sync folders and sub folders.

The same is true in the other direction if I create a folder and upload a file through DNN file manager the file and folders shows up there but will not show up when viewing the portal root via ftp client. So I guess my question is this. Is there anyway where I can sync files so that when upladed in one plbace it would be reflected in the other so I don't see a different structure in DNN file system than I see when looking at the site portal in a ftp client like filezilla, ipswitch, or cuteftp even smartftp.

If you know any way to properly sunc folders and files in DNN so they both appear in DNN site assets as well as via ftp client that would be great. If you know of a way where I could upload a bulk amount of folders and files including sub folders in my ftp client and synching them through dNN so DNN will auto add records for folders and files in portal root that was uploaded via ftp. Whatever advise you could give would be very helpful.

DNN pane names and drag and drop of modules

Hello my question is about DNN 9 panes. In previous version sof DNN when you moved a module from pane to pane you could see the name of the pane that you are moving the module to. I could not see the name of the pane as I dragged a module from pane to pane is this because the letters are in white instead of black or has that now been taken out for some reason.

The other question that kind of goes along with this is that it seems like you can only move the module via drag and drop upon initially instantiating it on a page. On previous versions of DNN you could opt to drag the module from pane to pane even after instantiating it rather than having to manual click on the gear and click on move to a specific pane.

Let me know if I am missing anything here.

Test clone redirects to production site

After turning localization on on my test clone, the clone redirects to our production site.
I looked up what the problem could be and i found in the table PortalAlias some entries that didn't belong there so i deleted them all, restarted my applicationpool. But it didn't change anything.
So i found out in PortalSettings that the defaultPortalAlias was wrong also. So i modified it to the right alias, restarted my applicationpool. but it still redirects me to the wrong site.
Tried to add a space in my web.config file saved it but that didnt help either.

So the situation so far:
- PortalAlias has only 1 entry
- PortalSettings has the right entry
- restarted applicationpool
- restarted the server
- modified web.config

So why does my test site still redirects to my production site? Is this information cached somewhere?
What can i still do or check to get this working?
