    Hi there,

I have a windows shared hosting account with Mochahost. I have installed DNN website on their server. Now, I

want to setup multiple parent portals for each domain name I have. Each domain is a different website, obviously,

so I need to setup separate email accounts for each domain, but they all should point to the same DNN website so

that I can use the multiple parent portal feature of DNN.

Now, the support staff tells me that I can add Domain Alias for each domain name to have multiple parent portals

on the same DNN installation. I tried that and it works fine. But I cannot edit the domain alias and create email

accounts (because its an alias) - they just point to the same mail account at the parent dnn website. All the mail is

redirected to the parent DNN website mail account as well!

They are taking too long to help me get this setup so can someone please suggest me some solutions for this so

that I can forward it to them and get my portals (with separate email accounts) setup soon.

    To summarize, i want
    1. Setup multiple domains to point to the same DNN installation so that i can have multiple parent portals, and
    2. Setup email accounts for each domain separately (do don't want to add each domain as alias).

    Thanks for your help.

    Karan.

    Hi Karan,

Do you know which control panel program your host is using?

IXWebHosting.com has an Edit button next to the Domain Alias. That is where I go to setup Email for my Parent Portals.

    Best Regards,

    -Len

Hi Len, thanks for your reply. They are using Parallels Plesk control Panel. There are not email account setup options for a Domain alias. If you "Create" a domain, then you will get the mail accounts options.

Still, do you think having a statis IP address and pointing all the domains in the DNS settings to that IP address will help me setup separate mail accounts for different domains but have all domains in the same dnn install as parent portals?

    Regards,
    Karan.

Thanks for your answer Lee, I am still waiting for a static IP address from my provider. And then I will try this approach. I would like to know if this can be achieved using DotNetPanel as well? Because if i move to another provider, they are using this control panel, not Plesk.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, We are running DotNetPanel over at www.resellerchoice.com

Its looks to be much simpler then with Plesk (no dedicated IP's or changes needed), You will be very happy with DotNetPanel over Plesk. Just make sure to select a good host with a proven track record with DNN.

In short, You just add the domains you want your DNN to use to the control panel. In addition you can add any email domains or accounts for Master or Child Portals.

Contact your dotnetpanel host for more details.

    Best Of Luck.

Yes, I faced the same problems as Karan a few months ago. I use shared hosting with iX and it's not easy to set up multiple parent portals with separate email accounts. I think this is a common problem because usually you want an unique email address for every domain. If you are not an expert, the best advice is reading tutorials if available or contacting the support staff. That helped me at least ...
