Iwebweb, when you say "guaranteed uptime / performance", can you explain a little bit ??? What does it mean ?

That's may be interesting to note that WH4L is currently having very big problems with his server. I am also with WH4L since many years, always being satisfied (few problems but solved very very rapidly).  I am hosted on VPS (Virtual Private Server, which is not the lowest price and you should attend a good level of uptime).
Unfortunately, since 33 days, I am running into bery big problems (DNN very very slow, unusable, etc...). They had some issues with server, they migrate all websites to another one. And it is still awfull. Today, my website is still down (since 8 hours). I contacted support, and I do not have any answer (2 hours after posting).

The only answer I got is through chat, where I am informed that "a virus scan" is performed on all server, that's why it is down... Hum, I did not know that virus scan was performed during hours and it was shutting down server.
    :-(

I have submitted my ticket to a manager for an answer, and I am waiting a clear statement.

    Hi Declic Video FX,
I'm not from webhost4life, but as for your question, I'd like to give my personal view point
Uptime Guarantee: Nowadays, every hosting company announce to provide more than 99% uptime guarantee, someone even announce to provide 100% uptime. Yes, the uptime is one of the most important key feature to review whether it's a good hosting company or not. Since there're many uncontrollable factors which might affect with the server reliable, such as Earthquake, Hurricane, International routing maintenance, even war .. etc, there're so many uncontrollable factors which might affect with the server reliability.
We Know uptime guarantee is so important for our websites, if the website was down for a long time, no one can acceptable. Especially for the business website, it'll lose clients directly and the downtime could affect your google search position. Since the uptime is so important, I think there's no one hosting company would like to see there's a downtime issue happened on their hosting servers. Since the downtime could lose clients and cut the hosting company's reputation.
Maybe now you're encountering the downtime issue at the moment, but I think that's not the thing of webhost4life group would like to see. Maybe there's something wrong on their routing or there's an emergence server maintenance or system upgrade. In order to keep the server's working properly, maybe it requires to take some time for the whole server's temp rest.
You said you're located on a VPS hosting server, I know there're only 10 clients on webhost4life's vps servers. VPS is much more expensive than the share hosting service. I see your website is still hosted with them and I do believe webhost4life support team will give you a reasonable explanation the issue. If it's their fault, please don't be afraid to ask for the compensation I know their compensation method always is to provide you free hosting service for a certain period.
    Thanks
    Helen

    Hello Helen,

Thanks for sharing your point of view, that's interesting. You are right, we are 10 people on a VPS, and that's why I do not understand why they can not migrate ten people on another server if there is a big problem on that one (that's what they done 2 days ago when they already migrated us to a new server). One can think that there is a major issue on all servers, but since I am in contact with many people, I just learned that someone else, hosted on a VPS with WH4L was hosted on a VPS which was fully running.... So, it was just an issue on my server (and maybe few other more). In such case, don't you think that 36 hours is pretty much ???

One can have a problem which can not be previsible (earthquake, etc...). In our case, it's not the case, and what I find strange, is the absence of communication on it, no message, no answer to my ticket request, only through chat. The only answer I had so far is:

"Hi, it's not normal but it's possible because we may have some configuration changes after the scan. We don't have schedule to do this again so it should not happen. 18 hours is not normal and rarely happen. Since we checked all the servers at same network block so the process took much more time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."

Unfortunately, I had another 18 hours downtime after the first one... Right now, the website is back to life, but I do not know for how much time... I am waiting their statement, each time I contact the chat support, they say that support is still working on the server issue (I have to admit that it does not give me a lot of confidence). In the mean time, I had the idea to open another ticket, to ask for the migration (I was asking for this in the previous ticket, but since they did not answer to this one, I thought it was a good idea to open a new one). And they reply that it is feasible, I am just now wondering what to do if the server is back to life...

I will keep you informed in few hours/days... I already asked for a financial compensation (in another ticket), I am waiting the answer. I would find it very nice to do so. And it will probably help me to stay with them. What is interesting, is the way they deal with customer. Always smart and nice (patience). Let's see in two days how it is. I would strongly hope that you are right and a financial compensation might be found. And I would like also to have the problems solved (DNN slow slow slow during 33 days --> that should be taken into account as well, and solved...)

Helen, if you are not working for WH4L, who are you working for ?... A satisfied customer from WH4L who is promoting WH4L ??...
Well done, nice promotion, well organised.

    Hi Déclic Vidéo FX,
I must admit your question is always smart, from the information
"Hi, it's not normal but it's possible because we may have some configuration changes after the scan. We don't have schedule to do this again so it should not happen. 18 hours is not normal and rarely happen. Since we checked all the servers at same network block so the process took much more time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."
you provided, looks like there was an urgent scanning on the server you're located. So we can guess the server was 'attacked' and webhost4life team needs to scan and re-configure the whole server. You see, to re-configure one server that requires much time.
For the compensation issue, yeah, if it's the fault in the web hosting company's end and hurt honest clients' end, they do need to provide some efficient ways to make clients satisified. For the issue you've encountered, I'm not sure whether it's the fault in webhost4life's end and I cannot give 100% confirmation, you can receive the compensation immediately.
    Wish you Good Luck!

As you say Horons... Intelligent, and nice in addition wow !!

So, let's come back to my problem ! ;-)
It has been solved after ~38 hours of downtime. I asked for a migration to another server, it was accepted (after discussions) but then I suddenly had the server back to life...
Now, I am asking compensation, we will see....

I lost some performance, I am trying to discuss with them to improve it.

So, here is the end of the story:

    1/ they solved my problems
2/ they improved my DNN (it was very slow)
    3/ they apologize
3/ they gave me a compensation

    CONCLUSION: I am happy now...
    ;-)
Just one regret, they should have better communicate on the topic, they did not answer to my first request and I had to wait one day before having my first answer, which is unusual...

Yes, yes, yes. Webhost4life is wonderful. I probably sound like I work for the company but I actually run a diamond and diamond jewelry business (http://www.loosegiadiamonds.com) that I've hosted with webhost4life for approximately two years. In that time, they have provided excellent customer service to me and an amazingly-fast website to my customers. I am very grateful.

Whatever for Dotnetnuke or other ASP.NET web applications, webhost4life is a good option for you.
My new site http://www.servefault.com is using MVC project and looks like running fine at webhost4life.

I signed with Webhost4life last week and tried installing DNN using their install wizard. Its been over a week and its still not working with no contact from support or updates. I am not sure they know what customer service is. I have contacted them every 2 days and I get the response "They are working on it and it will be running shortly". Then nothing. Not even an email. If they communicated what was going on I would stick it out but its obviously a sign of the bad service to come.

They have a 30 Day refund policy but what they dont tell you is they dont refund any of the additional services you sign for. Even though the fine print only says they dont refund domain registration.

    Never again!

Had been a happy customer of WH4L (WebHost4Life) for 6+ years. Support was decent, and my DNN installation rock solid for many years. ALL my sites have been down now for 48 hours . No Response from WebHost4Life. This is NOT the level of support WH4L used to offer.

After seeing SOOO many others experiencing the same horrid support from WH4L, and them simply not responding to my support tickets of my site(s) being down... I made an educated decision to go with 3Essentials. I immediately requested latest DotNetNuke install (DNN 5.4.2). Within 30 minutes installation was done perfectly. So far I'd recommend them.

Note though GymnasticsMedia.com is still down. I havn't transfered it to 3Essentials yet.

Webhost4life can no longer support DotNetNuke. They have changed servers and have no idea how to resolve this. My site has been down twice in the past 3 months for weeks at a time. They are amateurs. Be warned.

No they are not. You should stay away from them. I host DNNCreative on PowerDNN and I couldn't be happier.
