Please, does any one know of a good Ecommerce Module.  I looked over SDN Store's site (sysdatanet.com), and catalook.net   I have to say: Double thumbs down to both sites.  Both so hard to navigate that I finally just left (exasperated).  Both plagued with links that go nowhere, no download buttons, etc.

I really hate to bash other people, but the act of actually downloading or buying products on either site is practically impossible as of 5/29/07.

Sorry for the sour notes...

We looked at a few eCommerce solutions, but all seemed too complicated. I started creating a very simple eCommerce store using XMod, and it has worked out for us quite well. You can get our XMod "code" at DNNDev's Form Template Exchange. It's pretty simple, but it works perfectly for us.

I agree with you guys. But there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. More on my blog.

I read your blog about ASPDotNetStroeFront possibly being the light at the end of the tunnel... The announcement of ASPDotNetStoreFront DNN version was announced QUITE awhile ago. In fact I havnt heard ANY new news on it's development, progress, ect.  It's also QUITE expensive.. STARTING at $399.99. It's a dim light for eCommerce with DNN, which is stunning.

ASPDNSF did a beta preview of the module at a recent conference, but no word yet on a beta release as far as I know.

$399.99 won't be enough though. The module will be based on the ML version, which is yours for $899. In my opinion that's still a small price to pay if you are serious about ecommcerce.

Hi guys,

As free store modules go I find the Web Warehouse one made by Emerald Solutions is quite easy to use.

It has one bug I know of in the sense that once you've created a category you can't delete it (I've reported this to them with no response!) but you can hide categories you don't want to display by archiving so it doesn't the shop's function.

One tip though is to follow their advice on their FAQ pages for installing.

Also ensure the shop front page is always the same (dont point the page in Admin>Pages to a different URL like a specific category page else you'll get this error [since the Store Admin module knows the location of the shop front page through the shop's page name as it appears in the navigation menu])

Hope that's useful,

GuChuSum.

Also the Web Warehouse module is not prone to IP address changes with PayPal. i.e. I recently got an email from PayPal saying they'd be changing IP addresses on 18 June that could impact on API calls made using IP addresses.

However I confirmed with Emerald Solutions that changes in the hardcore code of the modules was not needed since their module uses a text-web address rather than IP address to call PayPal.

One criticism of Emerald Solutions is that their email support could be faster but I guess that's what you get for a free module. They did respond to the above question however, but I think that's because it was original rather than an installation question because I didn't read the manual!
