Hi, I recently did an upgrade on a DNN installation (4.02 I think to 5.04.00).  Upgrade seemed to go very smooth, and I installed AllDNN Contact Us module to use for form and payment collection.

Everything went smooth for a week and then the module stopped collecting data (nothing new showing up in the "view history" link) and ceased to send out appropriate e-mails.  I reinstalled the module, it worked for a few days and then the same thing happened.I know the form is still functioning as after the form is filled out and submitted, users are still redirected to Paypal.  We know forms were submitted as Paypal payments have been collected.

I have used the AllDNN Contact Us module many times and never had a problem and I suspect there is either an issue with this release of DNN or maybe hosting issues - Yes, the site is with Godaddy.  Another odd event that may be related is that one of the html modules disappeared after the upgrade.  The module only contained a table and some graphics with links, so I can't see why this would have happened.  The RAD editor is turned on - could this be the issue?

These form submissions are the main source of income for the magazine represented by the site, so I need to get this running and trustworthy asap. A remedial site, but it's primary reason for existence is these form submissions

btw - I am not a coder, but have launched many DNN sites.  Please go easy on me with technical jargon.  I do understand how everything works, though.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

The website is www.nasrq.com

Greg,

When you say that the module "stopped collecting data" I'm not sure what you mean. Where is the data collected? Is something supposed to go into a table? I would seek help from the developers of the module, too. It's hard to see how this could be a hosting issue if the site is working.

As for the HTML module that disappeared, it could somehow have gotten moved to the recycle bin. I'd look there. If it isn't there, you may need to rebuild it. If you saved a copy of the site before you did the upgrade, you might be able to get the module from the backup ... though with some work, so the rebuild option is still there.

One of the big additions in going from 4.02 to 5.04 is that the HTML module is now keeping versions. There could have been a conversion issue with that particular module. You might want to ask over at DotNetNuke.com if this is a know issue, or if it has been seen before.

It's not likely an issue with the RAD editor.

Joseph,

So sorry to take so long to your fast reply.  To be honest I was slammed with work, the problem fixed itself, and I planned to do a little more investigating before I wrote back. Oddly enough, the problem resurfaced on a different site (also hosted with Godaddy) and a different form submit module  - this time Dynamic Forms.

To be clearer about the problem, what happens is when I set up a form submission module on a page and then test (now repeatedly) everything works great.  (all the form submits we are talking about just generate e-mails - nothing fancy).  Anyway, if I have to go in and make any edits on the form, the forms quit functioning.  By this I mean that no e-mails are sent.  After some digging around, it seems the forms are collecting the data, but e-mails don't make it through.  I am not savvy enough yet to know whether the site generated the e-mails, but my best guess is that it did.

How I have been dealing with this issue is to create a new page and copy the modules to that page and delete the old page/modules.  This works great as long as I don't make any edits.  Would love to know why this is happening - my suspicion is lying more and more with Godaddy.  Have some other strange e-mail issues with them lately, too, like e-mails that I personally sent never making it (not showing up as spam either). Could this be related?

Thanks again

ps - had to work on a few Wordpress sites lately.  DNN is SOOO much more user friendly. I really appreciate all the work that has gone into making DotNetNuke great!

If you are having trouble with Dynamic Forms, I wouldn't hesitate to ask the good folks at Data Springs for help.  You can also set your form in debug mode and you will see what the module thinks that it is doing.

Thanks Joe,

Not sure how to run in debug mode, but I will look around on the site here.  I am 100% sure now that the modules are recording the forms submits and working perfectly.  The problem has to do with Godaddy sending the e-mails.  When I find a good solution, I will post it here for other godaddy users.

Thanks again,

Greg

Debug is a setting in the module configuration.
