Hi,

Praying that someone can help me...

I have gone through your tutorials a few times. I already have had a styles.xml file in the root along with a fckeditor .css file, assigned to the portal and it has been working. today I went ahead and added the style info for imgs to the .xml. and then added the styles to my skin.css file and uploaded. I basically just cut and pasted your img info from your sample .xml file in your tutorial.

Now I upload an image, highlight it and try to apply the style to it, but the dropdown menu for the styles is no longer available. IF I click outside of the image, the styles dropdown is available and I can then apply the styles to the text, but obviously this is not what I want! When I do this, the format dropdown changes from Normal to Normal(DIV), whatever that it..

In addition, if I try to get rid of either the img or blockquote styles via the styles dropdown, I am not able. I have to go into the html to delete it. All other styles can be removed by clicking the style, like it is suppose to.

I just got rid of the fckeditor.css for the portal and it does not seem to make a difference, as the same styles are in the skin.css. Another question... do I really need both?

Any ideas? Did this make any sense? I am really trying to enjoy DNN, but man, any customization seems to create so much more work and is taking a lot of the fun out of the creating...

Thank you.

Hello,

1) The styles dropdown will present styles that match the items that you select. If I recall correctly, the image styles also style some text, so you will need to select some text and the image, you will then be able to apply the style.

If you want the style just to be on the image itself, you will need to create a style in the xml file for the img tag.

2) Some styles you may find that you can not simply get rid of them by reselecting the area and that you have to edit the source code, it's just one of the limitations. What you may want to look at is - are those styles in div tags or p tags - it may work better in p tags in the latest FCK editor.

3) Not sure I follow, are you referring to the Editor area CSS settings? If you select Dynamic, it loads the CSS from the skin.css file

Hope this helps, I would also recommend you view these tutorials which were created with the latest FCK Editor version:
