I am pretty new to this so I am looking for help.

New install of DNN 4.8.2.  Portal 0 works file
I created a new portal but cannot access it with my browser IE7.  I get a 404 error.

Deleted the portal and tried again.  Same problem.

I have created portals without problem on earlier version 4.5.?

How did you create the portal, and what URL are you using to access it? The 404 Error would seem to indicate that you aren't using the right URL.

The portal was created using the Add New Portal function in Host --> Portals

The URL I am using is 10.1.1.16/intranet
The URL for the working portal is 10.1.1.16/dnn_site

In comparing the host settings on the new 04.08.02 install to the old 04.05.01 install I have found a difference that may be important.  On the new install (where the problem is) in Host --> Host Settings

/dnn_site

On the old install this setting is blank.

Could this be the problem?  If so how do I change it?

Sorry setting should read:

Relative Path:  /dnn_site

It depends on whether or not you made the second portal a parent of a child portal. You might want to look at the portals tab under the host menu and see what portalaliases were created for the sites.
