Hi,

I read this article http://www.dnncreative.com/Tutorial...fault.aspx here on DNN Creative about deciding when to use Multi-Portal installation. I have few questions regarding this when DNN is installed under a sub-domain.

My clients requirement is to have a dnn installation that will have multiple parent portals. I am allowed to create sub-domains with my hosting provider and so I have created a subdomain e.g site1.mydomain.com. From what I understand the multi portal concept in dnn works by adding host headers to your domain settings and they are all pointed to the same IP address of www.mydomain.com. The problem I have is that my sub-domain (site1.mdomain.com) is also on the same server (IP address).

My clients requirement state that the DNN installation has to be unique to them so they can create n number of parent portals. So the client domain www.clientsdomain.com will point to dnn installation on site1.mydomain.com and not www.mydomailn.com. Eventually the client would want site1.clientsdomain.com, site2.clientsdomain.com etc. How do I go about doing this ?

I understand most of this is to do with DNS settings with my hosting provider but can someone give me pointers/advice on this.

Thanks

Jav

I carried out some experiments with my hosting provider and conclusion is that the above is possible by

a) redirecting a domain or domain aliase address to a subdomain
b) sub-domain could have its own dnn installation
c) the portal in the sub-domain should have the necessary portal aliases created.
