Hello Lee and others,

This time my question is in regards to the opeartion of the DNN application.  When I was trying to ftp something to my main ftp account I got a disk full error because only half the hard drive space available was allocated to this account.  This particular ftp account houses all the DNN files that aren't database type stuff like tables and such.

Now when I went to see about putting more of the 1 GB allowed hard drive space on this account I noted that 135 MB or so were being used up for what was called an annonymous ftp account I guess different then the main ftp account which I usually get into to make minor modifications as needed.  Their was up to 314 MB of already allocated free space that I couldn't touch of the 1 GB and only 50 MB that was not allocated for anything at the time of this writing.

When I questioned the host company about this they told me that this annonymous account was used for opeation needing by web applications such as DNN is.  I was really confused then because I thought all operations of DNN were done via the main ftp account that I always logged into ocassionally and not a seperate ftp account.

So I guess what I am saying is I am trying to understand the idea of the possibility that DNN is needing to use an annonymous ftp account in order for it to conduct its operations effectively why wouldn't it be utilizing the main ftp account that was set up and not some annonymous account.  Also if I were to deallocate or delete this annonymous account how would it impact DNN since it seems that the DNN structure is instaleld on the main ftp account that half the hard drive was allocated to.

Secondly people have been complaining that the website seems slower that it ought to that the transactions from the database to the viewer are slower and not as fast as other websites they have seen.  I saw a blurb on something to do with speeding up your dotnetnuke application.

Is it true that dotnetnuke tends to cause servers to run slower than other sites and if this is true what steps can be taken to attack the problem and get a better response time from dotnetnuke and database interaction on either a database running on an sql 2000 server or sql 2005 server.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly I have just gotten aspdotnetstorefront for the server the ML/DNN version and had two questions from any out there who may have more experience than I with dotnetnuke and this storefront and that is I installed it exactly as it indicated to do but dont see the aspdnsf admin button on the admin menu bar as was suppose to happen after installing the storefront so I can't get to the backend of the store as of yet.

Secondly It appears since this is the ML/DNN version that this store front basically integrates into the dotnetnuke framework hence not asking for the creation of a seperate database but utilizing the one that dotnetnuke is on and generating the needed tables in that for it to run.

Is this good practice since dotnetnuke and this storefront are two different web applications and how would you write import/export scripts to populate specific areas of the store needed such as products table, etc...

Ok that is all what ever help you guys can offer would be great thanks

Hello,

I'm unsure about the FTP accounts.  I just have one FTP account which I use to access all of my DotNetNuke installation files.  DotNetNuke itself does not use FTP to access the files on the server as it is already located on your server, if you are confused about your own setup I would contact your hosting provider and ask them to clarify how your installation is set up.

The solution most people recommend for speeding up a DotNetNuke website is to use Snapsis.com page blaster.

I don't have any experience with that store. But yes it is good practice for it to be integrated into the DotNetNuke installation as it will operate as any other module within DotNetNuke. - It is probably worth contacting the support for the module if you have questions regarding exporting / importing data.
