Hi,
I have been setting up my web site and i have just began looking into paid registration for users, using paypal.
I have followed the tutorial about setting up paid subscriptions using paypal, and it seemed very straight forward.I set up a role that lets users pay for a six month period.
I entered a test user to try out my settings and when i go to 'manage services' in the test users account it shows a 'use trial' box even though i left the trial period fields blank when i set up the payment options.
I clicked on the 'use trial' box just to see what happened and it gives a message saying 'you have successfully subscribed to the paid subscribers role' and it gives an expiry date of 1 year.
I can't understand why this is happening.
Any ideas?

Thank you.

Matt.

Hi Matt,

You are correct, this looks like a new bug - I've just tested it in 4.5.5.

If this is a new bug it could be a while before it is fixed or a new version released, if you are looking into subscriptions I would suggest you look at the subscriptions module at www.ventrian.com

It could be worth visiting DNN to report the bug, thanks,

Lee

Hi,

I've just come up against this same issue - almost 2 years later!

Could it really not be fixed by now? Seems almost like a scam to get you to buy a commercial module...

hello,

It's definitely possible that this bug still exists, but I doubt it is a scam to buy a commercial module as the DotNetNuke core team do not sell commercial modules.

In any event, if you are going to be setting up subscribers to your website I would recommend a commercial module such as Ventrians subscription tools (which is what we use on DNN Creative) - through using a module like this you should find that your conversion rate improves because it easier for the customer to purchase a subscription.

Thanks,
