Is there a way to display a module on all pages, but with the same module settings as the original?

I have a DNNspot Custom Login module I want on every page of my site that has a custom template saved into the module settings. But when I copy this module to other pages (whether I check the "Display module on all pages" box in settings, or use the Copy Existing Module feature) the copy just has the default settings/template. Our site has hundreds of pages so copying the template into the settings of every module would be extremely time-consuming.

I know I can copy the module with the settings using SQL, but I want to ensure any new pages added to the site in the future will have this module (with the correct settings).

I'm not sure that this is going to help you but ...

Scott Wilkinson has a very nice explanation of how module settings work in his tutorial "Implementing IPortable" over at DNNHero.com. He explains how you can copy a module AND it's settings.

Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a way to do this with the "display on all pages" setting.

BTW, I have quit using that setting. It's much too problematic. Instead I bite the bullet and either copy modules or use page templates. It's certainly not the best way that things could be done.

DNN needs a "copy this module to another page" function with a setting to copy settings."

I think it'd probably be beneficial for us to be using page templates anyway. Could you direct me to a tutorial on using page templates in modern versions of DNN? All the tuts I found were pretty old.

The Scott Wilkinson tutorial is current and good. Note that most of the tutorial about another topic, and he covers this in the first video.

I don't have a DNN Hero membership. Any similar info out there you know of?

My memory says that making a page template preserves the module settings whereas "adding an existing module" to a page doesn't.

Of course you'll need to be using modules that support Import/Export to perserve module contents.
