I have created a vertical skin using the HouseMenu skin object following the relevant DNNCreative video turorials.

However when I log in an IE7 browser as admin or host there is a big 'grey gap' just after the word 'admin' (and after the word 'hjost' if logged in as host) and before the first admin (or host) menu link. At the top of the 'grey gap' is the word 'false'. To see what I mean check out this screendump.

The following is the server setup:
  • DNN v4.1
  • HouseMenu skin object version 1.4beta
  • (This issue only happens in IE7, it is fine in - for example - Firefox)
One possible solution I see is to revert from v1.4 beta to v1.3 of HouseMenu. Is this the way to go? Or is there something else I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I haven't come across this problem before. I did find when using version 1.4 that it didn't display the simple red leaf skin menu correctly so I use version 1.3 of the house menu so it may be worth testing to see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks Lee for the reply. I will try v1.3 of the House Menu. Before doing so can you (or any others here) clarify the steps I should take to revert to v1.3. I have a few doubts on the discrete steps I need to take. For example, do I first:

Uninstall v1.4 of HouseMenu

....or...

Do I install v1.3 skin object without uninstalling v1.4?

Then do I have to change something in the Skin (maybe in the skin.xml file?) so that the existing skin now leverages v1.3 of the Skin object instead of v1.4? Or does the skin 'pick up' this new skin object automatically?

Any insight on the steps would be very helpful.

Thanks

hello,

I can't quite remember what I did, but I suspect I un-installed v1.4 and then reinstalled version 1.3. If the skin doesn't pick up the new house menu you will need to uninstall the skin and reinstall the skin.

It could be worth trying this on a local host installation first.

thinking about it, I may have just installed version 1.3 without uninstalling version 1.4, I would try this first.

Lee:
Several montha ago, you discouraged all from using the Dynamic setting of the HouseMenu. I have tried using 1.4 and get the "false" error above in any of my setups for DNN 3 (I'm not sure which version and I don't have a file system menu open to see my config files).

Have you come across any CSS menu systems that support Dynamic and Vertical that work in IE7? SolPartMenu is killing my SEO attempts and I need to find a better solution with less code.

I haven't tested the menu but it maybe worth having a look at the Snapsis Nav menu, let us know how it works if you try it out,

I have the same issue in IE 7.0, but not in Firefox. Could someone please email me version 1.3 or point me to where I can get it? Thanks, Elisha
