Hi All

I am planning a large portal and need some ideas on how it should be structured.

There will be a core general section under which there will be 15-20 distinct subsections specilising on different subject matters.  The obvious solution in my head is to have one parent portal with 15-20 child portals.

But - it is complicated as I will be charging subscribers to the main site to join, after which they will be able to edit and add content under the various portals.

So the question regards to how the security roles / login profiles and subcriptions flow between the parent portal and the child portals.

If this isn't possible, how would you arrange this amount of data in one portal.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Greg

Hi Greg,

At present the users are not transferred from one portal to another, so this may cause you problems with subscriptions. - However I do seem to recall that there is a module available on snowcovered which enables users to be enabled across all portals, so it would be worth a look on there.

Otherwise, it maybe worth looking at something such as the articles / news module available from www.ventrian.com which will allow you to add categories and make it easier to manage all of the data.
