Trying to upgrade from 5.2.01 to 5.6.01 and I am getting the following errors, any help would be appreciated. Fortunately I backed up the site and was able to restore.

Try doing the upgrade again. I've seen some reports that these sorts of errors are caused by some missing files. So, this could have resulted from a bad copying of the upgrade files.

If this fails again, look in the eventlog table of your database for any errors that look like they occurred during the upgrade. You can tell by comparing time stamps. You may need to use SQL Server Management Studio (Express) to do this.

I'm new to upgrades so I'm curious if this is the norm? I have attempted to go from 5.2.01 to 5.6.01 unsuccessfully..

Also, any feedback on the DNNAutoUpgrade module from papayas.com for $120. I'm almost tempted to go that route if upgrading becomes such a hassle.

I would attempt to follow the suggested upgrade path.

In your case, the errors occur in some intermediate upgrades, too. You could try the upgrade to 5.4.4 and see if that works. It might but as I'm not clear what the error is, it's hard to say. A try may save you a lot of hassle, too.

THe autoupgrade module can be useful. We have some tutorials on using it, too. But, if it encounters and error, it is likely to fail, too. It's nice, but it's not a magic bullet.
